Breaking: Epic's Games Store launches on iOS and Android
Share

Hello, I’m Neil, I run mobilegamer.biz. Thanks for subscribing to this newsletter.

Something a little different this week - just as I was hitting publish on this week’s mailout, the Epic Games Store went live on iOS and Android.

Head through the link above for more detail, but in short, the new alternative app store is now available worldwide on Android and in the EU only on iOS. It has launched with Fortnite, Fall Guys and Rocket League Sideswipe, but players will have to fight through a multitude of scare screens to get to the games. More here.

As ever, my regular Friday editorial is paywalled, and follows below. If you enjoy these snappy weekly opinion pieces then great – stick a paid sub on expenses and keep reading them:

If not, that’s fine too. All of this week’s stories are below as usual, so free subscribers still get an overview of what’s going on.

This week’s stories:

The Epic Games Store is live now on iOS and Android

The new app store is now available worldwide on Android and in the EU only on iOS. It has launched with Fortnite, Fall Guys and Rocket League Sideswipe.

New games now: Elder Scrolls, Fall Guys, Fortnite and Squid Game incoming as Kart Rider gets cancelled

Also this week: FunPlus' new soft launch, Age of Empires Mobile dated, new NetEase games and the latest indie releases.

What’s next for mobilegamer.biz

Events, podcasts, video and more original reporting is where this site wants to go. I'm heading into Gamescom next week seeking new partnerships to help mobilegamer.biz do that.

Data digest: ZZZ, Solo Leveling, Harry Potter, DnF drive big numbers, hybrid monetisation grows plus a flurry of financials

This week we've got financial updates from AppLovin, Sega/Rovio, Nexon, Bandai Namco, Krafton and Square Enix and plenty more.

Ad break: Sea of Conquest’s grim goat hooves, shark shooting and booty tasting

FunPlus’ pirate game is another title using some over-the-top animal cruelty to hook players in.

Ad break: Mickey Mouse joins OnlyFans in BitLife’s most provocative TikTok creative

“I’m glad my wife cheated on me with my dad”, begins another of the ads, and ‘Donled Troomp’ is the subject of another.

Ad break: Wolf Game’s gory animal cruelty, gorilla-based torture and slapsies

We’ve got a feeling Wolf Game's unhinged ads are from the same team that brought you Mecha Domination’s miniature epics.

Ad break: Mecha Domination’s urinating gorilla, chaotic editing and meat thirst

This strategy game has gone all-in on bizarre and eye-catching TikTok ads. So let’s review some of them.

Ad break: Rise of Kingdoms’ jocks, geeks, planes, pianos and speeding tickets

Ads for Lilith’s strategy game are the ones we get served the most, so let’s look at them first.

What I learned from weeks of weird mobile game ads

I looked at a small sample of extreme mobile game ads for a mini-series of stories published this week. It seems sexism is out, and animal torture is in.
